With 1,400 miles of coastline, Peru has many good surfing locations. Derek had surfing on his Peru "bucket list" so he and Lincoln surfed in Lima and then Lincoln surfed a dozen more times while we were in Punta Hermosa. In Lima, there were many outfits parked next to the beach offering lessons; while in Punta Hermosa, we randomly met an instructor over an espresso. Derek was not particularly good at surfing, but Lincoln took to it pretty naturally as he has better balance, a lower center of gravity, more agility, ... and less fear. The Pacific Ocean is very cold so wetsuits were essential.
